DOT Medical Exam Requirements in NJ, PA, DE and MD

Immediate Care is listed on the Department of Transportation's National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. We review health history, and ask for a list of medications that you take regularly. In addition, we also perform the following:

  • We do blood pressure testing, making sure that your blood pressure is below 180/110, which is disqualifying.
  • We perform an A1C Test to make sure your blood sugar is at a certifiable level.
  • We check that any drivers with sleep apnea can demonstrate that it is under control.
  • We perform eye exams, to make sure that drivers have at least 20/40 correctable vision in each eye.
  • We conduct hearing tests, where a driver must be able to hear the sound of a forced whisper from more than five feet away in at least one ear.

Of course this list is not all-encompassing, and there are exceptions to some parts of the exam that can be made at examiner discretion. There are other factors that may result in preventing you from being cleared during your DOT exams, such as (but not limited to): Limb loss, recent major surgery, and a current hernia. You can view the full description of physical qualifications for drivers here on the Code of Federal Regulations website, or you can

ask us about any further questions you may have. You can send us an email down below, or call us at

Not just anyone can perform a DOT Medical Examination. The only examiners you can trust to carry out your DOT exam are on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (or FMCSA) National Registry. All the medical examiners listed on the site are fully qualified, and you can find us on there as well. This registry allows people to verify that a Medical Examiner is certified and able to legally provide DOT Medical Examinations for all of your drivers. Remember to always check that your DOT Medical Examiner is listed on the FMCSA National Registry before you waste your time and money getting your drivers examined by an uncertified examiner.

There are a large number of examiners on this registry, but the thing that makes us stand out above all the rest is that we will come to you! Instead of having your drivers take the time to wait around in a lobby wasting everyone’s time, we will show up at your facility and perform your DOT medical examinations then and there! Nothing can beat the convenience of having the examiner come to you, and your drivers will be glad that they get to spend less time fighting traffic to get to an examiner. It’s a win-win!

So if you like convenience, saving money, and saving time, give us a call today to schedule your DOT Medical Examinations! Our number is (856) 220-7868.
